Germany and the Czech Republic sign agreement on a strategic dialogue between the two countries

The strategic dialogue is chaired by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of both countries namely Lubomír Zaorálek (Czech Republic) and Frank-Walter Steinmeier (Germany). The work programme of this cooperation includes also the forestry sector through the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Federal Minister of Agriculture, Christian Schmidt met with his counterpart Marian Jurečka, Czech Minister of Agriculture, in May 2015. Amongst the topics discussed they highlighted the willingness for bilateral cooperation in the forestry sector. Resulting from the meeting the integration of biodiversity conservation into forest management was added to the list of collaboration actions.

The Integrate+ project carried out by the European Forest Institute (EFI) will play a role in the bilateral work programme through the establishment of demonstration sites in both countries. These sites will be used to foster the bilateral exchange of forest experts and facilitate the sharing of ideas, experiences and know-how with integrative forest management. It is envisaged to make use of the training software I+ developed by EFI in the frame of the Integrate+ project.
